This privileged location makes it the perfect choice to explore Milan, a city full of history, life and culture.

Milan isn't as famous as other Italian Art cities such as Rome or Venice. However, it's right here that you may find some of the most famous masterpieces in the world. Starting, obviously, from The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, preserved inside the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie: Leonardo's painting is so celebrated, that you have to book your visit weeks in advance in order to find a place. Moreover, in Milan you may find some exquisite churches, such as San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, with the remarkable frescoes by Bernardino Luini; Santa Maria presso San Satiro, with the astonishing perspective invented by Bramante; the iconic Milan Cathedral, a unique example of Italian Flamboyant Gothic. Not to mention its interesting museums, such as the Pinacoteca di Brera, with its painting collection ranging from Mantegna and Caravaggio to Piero della Francesca; Museo del Novecento, where you will find the infamous The Fourth Estate painting by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo; the Sforza Castle's museums, in which the Rondanini Pietà by Michelangelo is preserved.

Along with New York, Paris and London, Milan is one of the four most important fashion cities. As a matter of fact, the classy atmosphere of the city centre gathers visitors from all around the world, while via Montenapoleone and the Quadrilatero della Moda represent the archetype of fashion district. This glamorous attitude particularly reveals itself during the different Fashion Weeks, when the most famous stylists and fashionistas from everywhere flock to town. Milan is also a benchmark when we're talking about design, with its Milan Design Week and the Fuorisalone. During these events it may be difficult to find a hotel room, so it's better to book in advance.

Milan is a lively city, with an interesting nightlife focused in a few districts. A few steps away from The Yard boutique hotel Milan, there's the historical Navigli district, nowadays the main night destination of the Milanese: its sparkling atmosphere contrasts with its working-class origins, creating an interesting vintage feeling. Classy Corso Como, graceful Brera, indie Isola and the newly built Porta Nuova district are amongst the other interesting places to go out at night while in Milan.

Leonardo Da Vinci lived in Milan for 17 years, from 1482 to 1499, working as engineer, painter and scenographer at the court of Lodovico il Moro. Therefore, Milan offers a unique opportunity to discover the works of this incredible personality. While in town, you may admire his Last Supper; the Codex Atlanticus, a collection of his writings held inside the Bramante chapel at Santa Maria delle Grazie and at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana; his projects preserved inside the Science & Technology Museum; his decorations inside the Sforza Castle; his engineering solutions for the city canals system.
